March's winning PoM ...
« on: April 08, 2020, 10:46:41 AM »

Well, it was a close run thing for a while, I thought I was in with a chance but S2C member Crumbly65 romped ahead with his picture of his Land Rover working as Land Rover intended.

Congratulations ....  :first

Thank you Alan, and thank you to all those who helped me achieve POM.

It's a particularly poignant moment.  The pic was taken on my friend George's 600 acre farm.  He was the person I bought my SII from 20 years ago, and therefore led indirectly into my love of SeriesII's , and to this Club.  He'd been my friend for over half my life - and I'm in my mid 70's.

Tragically, that dear friend, George Mackie, died on the 3rd April.  He was a robust, raw-boned Scot, 6ft 5" tall, who used to play Rugby in the second row for Scotland, and yet he was the gentlest, kindest, most humorous, charming, decent man I've known.  But cancer can, and does, kill the best of us.

I'd like to dedicate the Picture of the Month to him.....

A great picture and deserving of PoM.
I remember you talking of George at more than one of the Galleywood meetings. A terrific character by your account.
Sad News Indeed  :'(
