top steering column bearing

If for some reason one or more of the small balls in the top column bearing fall down inside the column are they to big to work there way into the steering box and jam it or are they to small to cause a problem ???

I was just thinking about this having read the thread about Land Rover thefts and the great unwashed using brute force on your aftermarket steering wheel lock...
