Howdy, has anyone got a photo of where to find the engine number on a 6 cylinder? I'm in the process of negotiating a purchase and the seller can't find it.

Yes, I've tried explaining, but he doesn't have the understanding,  hence photo request.

Mine is in bits but as below the number on the cylinder head as far as I know - I can give you a photo of the head if that helps, one the head and one close up. Not sure if this is any use but best I can do till it goes back together which won’t be soon.

For clarity, those are head casting numbers, not the engine number. The engine number must be stamped on the block.

Thanks anyway. I'm expecting a number starting 345, if memory serves.

Yes. In my first pic. You can see the edge of the exhaust manifold on the right  of the core plug. You can also see the corner  of the black valve cover plate on the side of the engine underneath the exhaust manifold.

Same place as on the 2 litre 4 cylinder engine.

Are the numbers in the the same place on the 2.25 petrol engine ?

They're on a plate type space on the 2.25 - see pic
