The Panda camper runs  :first

After a leisurely top end re-build the engine runs quite nicely, the chuffing has gone and a lot of the blue smoke.
It really needs a decent road run which will come later this week as I have to go shopping and visit the pharmacists.

I can now get to work on tidying up the electrics.

All ready for the Ripon Rally - fingers crossed....

A nice leisurely run to work and back today. Even through the roadworks that have a chicane in them Brands hatch would be proud of. I also had to tax it when i got home to as the reminder had dropped through the door.

Hi,

I started to prepare for the arrival of my next project ....

I need to cut a hole in my front hedge, and cobble up a gantry from which to hang my new block and tackle.

Wrong! I can't find my JACK saw. I wonder if my builder thought it was his, and took it home with him? But I can't complain ... what can you do with a builder who ignores demands for him to present his (five figure) account. ???

However, I did find my long handled lopping (sp?) shears, which will let me "crop" the hedge at ground level, so one out of two ....

Barbara ordered me a saw from Amazon.

NEXT, i need to know the distance from the crank handle hole in the front bumper, to the spigot on the front of the splined clutch shaft. I'll probably scale that off the "Coachbuilders" drawing.

If it's within anybody's "gift", (but I'll pay), I need a length of steel bar ... 80mm x 10mm x 125mm long. I can live with something a little bigger, on all fronts, but not smaller. This "lock-down" is making it difficult to buy stuff.

Hi,

.... I'd have been quicker, but the lights were against me in Leeds ...  :RHD

Front of front bumper to DATUM line = 24.968"

DATUM line to front of "Under flywheel" X-member = 24.625".

So, that means four 12" x 1/2" drive extension bars, plus a 6" extension bar, a 15/16"AF socket, and a ratchet bar. I don't know how many extension bars are in my tool boxes, or how much they cost. The alternative is to buy 1.5 metres of 12mm x 12mm square bar .... which I anticipate will cost more, and hope that one of my bi-hex sockets will fit on the naked end. But I'll still have the square bar.

Not urgent, as I have to strip the roof off, before moving it from it's delivery point, in order to get it into my garage ... I wonder if the "dinky" wheels will make that easier?

Hey! "DINKY". There's a meaningful name with a ring to it. I was trying to remember the names of the Seven Dwarfs. Hey again, ... "ring to it...". Has everybody heard the joke about how Quasimodo met his end?

602

Contrary to popular belief, Quasimodo did not pull a bell rope ... he used to jump up, and hit the bell with his head. But one day, he missed, and went flying through the belfry window.

The crowd gathered around his lifeless body, in the courtyard below.

The Coroner asked ..."Did anybody recognise him?"

"No! His face didn't ring a bell!"

I can see a theme for a YouTube video series.

"Project Dinky" !

It’s a sad day  :'(. After nearly 5 years of ownership and when I’ve just finished my restoration of my Series 2, I have had to sell her for health reasons.  At least it goes to a friend and new Series 2 club member - Russell here in Regina.  He has a border collie and both will much enjoy the open top driving in Luna.  I wish them all the best for the future   :RHD
So sad to hear that you had too sell her due to health , but to a friend whom will take you out in her still, I hope that your health improves and your still able to enjoy getting trips out in her possibly drive sometimes on green road runs ??
Please stay safe and well.

Today I managed another sneak out, even got followed by the old bill (kept it below 60 - honest gov :whistle) - nice smile from them both, met a Defender 110 on the way, had a nice wave.

The reason for the sneaky road trip was to visit my mother in-law at her care home, they were having a drive by day (no guns allowed  :-X :-X :whistle) so I thought it would be good to take George, he behaved very well and was feeling pretty frisky, not sure if it's me not driving a lot but for sure the pony's were certainly not holding back.:cool :cool Any way did the drive by, it was good to she the old dear and George certainly brought a few smiles on the faces of the other residents - my good deed for the day. :tiphat :RHD :-*
