I am glad that mine has a stainless system though the flanges are mild steel and will need some attention soon.

I was lucky. Plusgas and elbow welly got most of the old bolts out. Only had to angle grind one.

Why do they not make the flanges from Stainless?

Don't know but my nephew has got me some stainless flanges cut so that I can weld them on.

Engine went in today. Started at 9 this morning and nearly got it all done. Will be ready for the first drive tomorrow. Just fluids, floors, tidy wiring and we're off for the first time 6 years. I'll be remembering what Christmas felt like as a kid this evening

An hour or so a day - It's not as if I've anywhere to go in it !

Still got an injector that's not sealing well in the head and an annoying water leak.

Was it because Mrs.W didn’t let you bring it into the lounge like she normally does.

Took almost 3 hours to get the floor panel up on the drivers side . I’ve decided the previous owner must have had shares in a silicone factory 😀 every bolt was held into the hole with stuff , and the nuts below , and the panel edges .

I am now looking for some spire nuts before it goes back in. Pleased to see good solid metal on top of the chassis and outriggers underneath all the damp crud .

Had another good day today. Got the rest of the engine ancilaries on and the hoses which arrived yesterday but could I find the jubilee clips, had to steal some old rusty ones from a spare engine. Antifreeze mixed and added, no leaks, yet.... Fan shroud and battery tray fitted.
It's all coming together nicely.

Fitted the new tub floor. What a difference to the old one, feels very solid - it doesn't flex.

technically not today but I coloured in my mudflaps. It took a few evening work making it 6 coats of acrylic paint.

Dropped the windscreen off for the first time in a long time, to try and change all the seals. Possibly the first time the glass has been removed for ?40-60? years? Expected horrors under the screen at the top of bulkhead, but a nice suprrise... not too bad. Nothing a bit of liquid metal and hammerite covering can't cover.

Anyway, it seemed a shame to waste the opportunity so went for a quick 5-mile-radius spin. There's only one thing gets more looks than no top and no door-tops..... no top, no door-tops and no windscreen. At 50 mph my girl's sunglasses were blown off    Its the first time I ever tried a drive without the screen. I'd do it again.

Quick question.
I have a FAJ100020 "Seal - bulkhead to windscreen" from Paddocks.
It looks to be a spongy self-adhesive thing. Am I meant to stick it to the bulkhead, or bottom of the screen frame?
What came out was a rubber strip, quite different to the new FAJ100020 "Seal - bulkhead to windscreen" part.

I have DumDum for the front of the glass and the appropriate new rubber glass seals for the rear of the glass. So I think for the frame I should be OK.
