What you did with your Series 2s in July ?

Finally got round to my alternator conversion  :-*

The old dynamo pulley bearing was absolutely shot, the brushes were knackered and the current output was pretty bad. I know, it could all have been fixed, and I may still go to the trouble or refurbishing it for the fun and learning but right now I prefer to have a decent charge current in favour of originality.

Just had to make a shorter adjustable brace for tensioning the belt. Really happy with the installation. Nice and neat. Ran a couple of large gauge brown wires back to the starter solenoid and used the original yellow wire for the +IND to the alternator.

Well over the weekend.
I'm very much enjoying driving around topless so built a shelter in the woods for the rainy British summer.
The Landy earned it's new garage with various dragging, winching and carrying of logs duties.

Then when I got home, my lovely wife had knocked up a rain cover too so I don't have to use a bit of old tarp :-)

Still struggling with the increasing volume of oil pouring onto the drive though. I need to get underneath and clean everything off to find the source.
My guess is it's the rear engine seal though so I'm trying to put off finding out  :whistle

My friend David (pictured driving), was a victim of a terrorist attack, which left him blind and one handed. He took Gertie for a drive in the garden, the first time behind the wheel since the attack 15 years ago! He was very happy to be driving again!

I got to the Green Road Roundabout about 2.5 miles from my house and she cut out on the roundabout, yes, you guessed, middle lane front row, almost certainly fuel starvation. I rang the RAC and they turned up inside the hour, in the meantime I rang 101 to report a hazard on the roundabout and while I was on the phone to them a guy in a recovery vehicle used his vehicle to block off the inside land and he single handedly pushed the 109" StationWagon with me in it around the corner to safety. The man was a horse and has my undying gratitude.

Bit late now, but you can generally crank a vehicle off the road / up the pavement in bottom gear using the starter if the battery is in reasonable fettle.

The Green Road Roundabout at Headington isn't a good place to break down, is it?

Started pulling the engine out to take it for some engineering.. I'd been expecting the garage to work on it while still in-situ. Never mind, lock-down means that time is of no great importance to me !

This is good emergency action advice.
Everyone should try and remember it if their vehicle gets stranded in a dangerous place.

Got me safely off an unmanned level crossing a couple of years ago.

No it's not, I eventually stood back behind the eyeline of the drivers coming up behind, not much love or sympathy was being shown by those caught behind it.

Towed a ton of rocks to work today to hand over to a colleague for his garden. Mad fool put about half of it in his Fiesta to take it 30 miles home. No speed bumps I hope! SIIa great towing at 45mph. Another colleague passed me and said I was grinning from ear to ear

When you're having landscaping works done and the contractor goes home leaving a big pile of rocks and soil then you just have to have a play...  :cool
