Apologies for the S1 content

The nearest land rover in the photo had a major engine rebuild at the side of the road between Zagreb and Belgrade in Yugoslavia during the summer of 1970.

Thanks Alan, it is a very old photo,  I don't have the negative and I am rubbish with photo type software.

I love how the only tool he's apparently been using is the hammer.

Hi,

What is the SWL of the "ring" on the front bumper, and where is that information displayed?

I assume the winch is a "block and tackle" (something in my mind about Churchill?) (only one chain, but endless?) Not the sort of thing you carry in your tool box.

I wonder what it is hung from?

If nothing else, the removed wheel should have been shoved under the chassis, preferably with the spare, to double the "packing".

A scaffolding pole stuck in the ground braced with a rope tied round a rock?

I too love that tool box. One of the biggest pains is having to rummage around trying to find the right spanner and ending up having to tip everything out.

I note the 'in Army service' tool box appears to have two trays, which makes sense (as does having only one tray that can be slid around).
Mind you, given the number of tools in the box, it might need a two man lift !

I also wondered what operation was being done; my best guess is changing a shock absorber, but I'd have thought that could wait until more level ground was reached, perhaps at the workshop.

Regards.

It looks to be part of an A frame, so presumably the REME and recovery truck.....There is what appears to be part of a bumper just in shot at the right of the picture.
The units in house "Light Aid Detachment " most likely.

Interesting mix of front and rear tyres.

I wonder if there was any logic to that or it was just what was available?

The 2 tool trays was what I noticed straight away  :thud
My tool box has only the one tray  :'(

I'm now looking for an "extra" tray on eBay etc.
