bar keepers friend is very good for stainless.
I also use it for cleaning ceramic sharpening stones.
You can get it from Wilkinson's in the UK.

After all this time I finally heard back from the Royal Automobile Club's Librarian/ Records Historian, Trevor Dunmore.  I sent my email way back in March of this year, he's been on furlough.

Basically - he has no clue what the number '2355' means even though it's on several badges and said "it's a bit of a mystery".  He did confirm that it's an Associates badge and those were made from between the very early '60s to '73.
