Anybody in here going to Newbury this Sunday? I plan to be there helping a friend shift a whole load of
rubbish (perfectly usable bits of old Land Rover I assure you...)
-
If the weather's not too foul I might pop in. I enjoy being underwhelmed...

That's what we like... Happy customers! :tiphat
I agree though its nothing like as fun as the old days of Old Sodbury. Still, now that its just down the road, I might as well pay it a visit.

Ha! Just trying to manage my own expectations after my last over-enthusiastic visit!

The weather changes every day. Latest is cloudy and dry but it's likely to change tomorrow. I'll wait and see Sunday morning.
-
What do we know about the event, is there an entry fee, where is it?
I did look online but didn't find much information.
Quite a drive for me so not sure if it would be worth it or not.
Craig.

Newbury showground, just off the M4.

Here you go Craig,

I'd suggest it is quite a trek unless this sort of thing gets you excited...

May possibly attend, could do with reducing some of my 6 cylinder collection of parts. Wait and see if the weather's going to be ok first .
-
I’ll be there with a stand as usual, mainly series 1 & 11 parts, with a smattering of coiler bits.
-
I'll see you there then!
-
The weather looks ok for Newbury. Cloudy earlier on then sunny periods. Most importantly it's going to be dry. I intend to go, only about 25 miles away. I can give the 2.5 petrol engine an Italian tune up which it badly needs after just short trips for dog walking.
-
I'll see you there then hopefully!
-
I’d love to attend but sadly my holidays and the dates for these events never align.
Need to buy some perfectly useable Landrover bits before they are all gone. The last time I went was about 25 years ago and it was great (and very easy on the wallet).

I'll arrive about 11am. I'll keep a lookout. I'll be accompanied by a black and white English Springer Spaniel.
-
For once I have to confess that it was a good day. Well attended, loads of stalls and despite being a tad parky good fun. Spent all day with my hoodie up so failed to see half the people I intended to see, so apologies!
-
We had a good day too, but failed to spot you Mark.
-
That's because I got accosted by an old friend of mine to help run his stall and then got abandoned! I only got a quick run round once. I saw you, but you were busy with a group of punters.
I set out with one simple goal (or so I thought)... To find a number plate light for the P38A Range Rover I'm borrowing. I failed dismally - in fact I saw no P38A stuff at all. Is nobody even bothering to break them now?
-
I didn’t see much p38 stuff either, but in the limited time I was off the stall I thought there was plenty of series parts and I managed to raise enough to buy a new tilt for my series one from Steve at Undercover.
I also think the European buyers have returned, we had great fun with a large French family and I think I ended up giving them more than I sold them, I gave their young son a Dinky breakdown crane and recieved a huge hug much to everyone’s amusement 🤣
-
I didn't see you either Mark. I had arranged to meet a Land Rover owner whom I hadn't seen for a number of years and he turned up and I met David Bowyer again and Chris from the Series 2 club with his red VW Transporter.
I didn't think there were so many Series spares as in previous years. I'd hoped to find a Series 3 large vent dashtop in better condition than mine but no such thing was there.
The 2.5 petrol benefited from an Italian tune up along the A34 though.
-
I was amazed at how many Series One wings were on sale. Along with the odd shed-relieved powertool collection.
-
There is a P38 chap very close to me Mark, Absolute Landrovers.

No contact details on the web site holding page but I can ask if he has a light if you like as he has a number of vehicles there for parts.
Craig.
-
Thanks Craig, that might work well as I need to drop a gearbox back to your neck of the woods next week.
-
Unfortunately I’ve heard this morning that someone has his 110 CSW stolen from the Newbury car park yesterday while he was in the showground, which put a bit of a damper on things!
-
That's terrible. I hope they post on some of the online groups so that everyone's on alert.
-
Is nothing sacred in this lawless country? If the scum are ever caught they'll just get a slap on the wrist from some woke judge.
-
I have been a few times but a long way from North West Gwynedd, and the older I get it seems a longer trip. Last time I didn't find much on my list, perhaps next time
I have tried the 3 counties event but still a long way and far less stalls than Newbury but you can be lucky
Does Newbury have a Tractor and Land Rover event? I ask as I might get the local tractor people to get a small bus for us all :bright-idea
-
I don't have to worry about my P38 anymore, I sold it.... (sadly) I just didn't use it as much, it was a shame seeing in the drive and not moving, they have to be used
-
When I went to Newbury in 2019 there were tractor stalls but I didn't notice any this year. There were far less stalls than in 2019 too.

Yes what I thought :ditto
-
There wasn't enough tractor specific stuff there to justify a busload of our Welsh brethren attempting an invasion I'm afraid! Lots of what looked like stolen lawn mowers, but that's about it.

Makes you wonder how many Land Rover bits had gone walkabout from their legal owners. The cheap Td5 chassis looked decidedly iffy.
