If any ambulance / military vehicle experts around.

Marshall’s ambulance body has racks for carrying spare stretchers on roof, steel tray with 6 brackets on each edge each of which has a 7/16 bolt through roof.

I’m thinking this should be plenty strong enough to hold an awning for camping, but don’t want to end up with a dozen holes in the roof the first time the wind gets up.

I’m thinking the types that are sold as universal, fasten to any roof rack type - arb, Terra firma, tuff trek all make - probably loads more out there.

Anyone know if this would be safe to do? Or how to work out?

I do not know, however my father used to regularly walk on the roof of my mums ambulance. This led to flex in the roof above the cab which then created a leak.  The stretcher racking should be strong enough.

Thanks- good to know I haven’t walked on the roof and will avoid doing that as don’t want the leaks on this one, but sounds pretty strong in that case
