Krud Kutter for surface rust
« on: January 11, 2021, 02:11:39 AM »

I have no financial or other interest in this product.  Has anyone tried Krud Kutter for surface rust?  I find that if you steel wool the rusted surface and apply this liquid, it does in fact "incapsulate" and inhibit or arrest any further rusting.

I did an experiment.......the new replacement petrol cap for my "rebuilt" '87 110 SW severely rusted within a few months from new on its inside surface.  It was solid bright red.   I steel wooled the rust off and down to clear metal.  I applied the Krud Kutter.  One year later the inside surface was still rust free.
I am using it now on small interior areas of rust on the 109, letting dry and then painting over the area.  You can actually see the metal change when you apply the liquid.  Pretty neat stuff.

Doesn't seem to be that readily available this side of the pond from what I can see. A few sold out listings for it on eBay. Maybe it has fallen foul of some EU law on health and safety.
I've seen a few similar chemicals here with the same results. Looks like it does the job though!
