LR BROCHURE SHOWING ALL MODELS
« on: March 29, 2021, 02:10:33 AM »

I just noticed that this period brochure shows no trucks with limestone wheels.  Somehow I had the idea that most trucks had limestone painted wheels.

Bronze Green body - Bronze Green rims
Red body - Red rims - this was optional for home and export
Mist Coat White body - Primer rims.

Sand body - Limestone rims - this was optional for home and standard for export.

This is per a couple of pre-1970 brochures.

Also, there were two, possibly three, Limestone colors - Limestone, Limestone Cream (a.k.a. Classic Cream) with the third being an off white with a hint of blue.  Last one is debated from what I understand.

At least two of those drawings appear to show limestone rims. As the majority of them look to be suggesting deep bronze green vehicles, it is quite correct that the wheel colour would match.

This is the colour options section from the back of the 1966 / 1967 Station Wagon brochure.
My station wagon from this year is limestone all over so not surprisingly it has matching wheels.

That's what's in mine.  I don't have that brochure though, but it's on my 'to get' list.

I should have qualified that my brochure is for the US Rover Company, New York City and San Franscico.  According to your brochure,  that doesn't necessarily make a difference.    Thanks for clearing that up.

If it helps any, the two brochures I have are for the US Eastern Region.

My '62 is bronze green and has limestone rims. It was like that when I got it in the early 70's, so either it left the factory like that or someone must have changed the wheel colour in its first 10 years?

Or the original owner asked for it to be done at the factory, or did it themselves.  Mine should technically be green as well, but I had them painted Limestone Cream for the contrast, as well as to match the sunshield.

Could well have been easier to buy a set of wheels with tyres rather than replace worn tyres. Or just swapped between vehicles.
