HMG paint
« on: July 19, 2022, 12:31:47 PM »

Has anyone used HMG paint to paint there series 3? I have been advised by there technical department at HMG to use HMG c71 speedline to top coat it, as this will give a soft sheen finish. I want to paint the roof and just wondered what shade of this paint you used, as there is a vast array of colours in this range? Are there other paints you could recommend
Thanks

I have used HMG cellulose paint to paint other classic vehicles, and found their cellulose to be the best amongst the several I have also used. Not sure what their speedline paint is, and whether it's suitable for home spraying?
Cellulose can be managed relatively safely, dries rapidly, and can be cut and polished if the finish is not as good as you would like.

According to HMG C71 is a high quality '2 hour' drying time Synthetic Alkyd Enamel.

It may be OK to use, it's a bit difficult to be certain it doesn't need isocyanate hardeners, so I would check that.
The drying time might be a problem without a good day and/or very good facilities. I think I would get flies and fairies in my paint finish if I had to wait 2 hours☹️☹️.
