I thought every day was National Fish and Chip day?

At least it should be anyway...

Not so sure about brown sauce though.

When I first moved from Yorkshire to Lancashire over 50 years ago I was introduced to a delicacy you could buy in a Wigan chiipy (no not a Wigan Kebab).  It was a smack barm cake with peawet., aslice of potato dipped in batter and deep fried eaten on a breadcake that has been dipped in pea juice.  They definitely eat strange things in Wigan a s to them a kebab is a pie, a pudding and a pasty on a barm cake also bought from the chippy.
I would rater just have fish, chips and peas

Good morning Alan, were you a late riser today?, old age does have its flaws I know  ;)  Only I see todays header has now caught up with this thread  :neener

Just one very small point though, and forgive my cheek, although it sounds like there should be, I don`t think the title includes an S on the end of chip, at least there isn`t in all the advertizing bumph I`ve seen  ???

Hopefully this post won`t mean my immediate expulsion to the dark side of the forum  :agh

Round here it's "Fish & Chips"  :essen
(fish can be plural - discuss)

I've had a lot on my plate recently and it takes me a while to get started.

Yes,  Fish and Chips for dinner only minutes ago.

Picked up from my local chippy in a 1969 2a.

Local fish here is Dhufish or Jewfish.

Some of my colleagues eat those things. Strange people they are.
Fish Chips and Peas for me. That chippy near St George's primary school serve a fish nearly as big as your plate.

A bit different from the 1/6d per portion we used to pay in the 1950's from the mobile fish and chip van that toured around the local villages.
I've read that in some places one portion of fish and chips is over £11.00.

Yes, I remember that also. In fact chips were 4d  for ages and then went to 6d when there was a shortage of potatoes. As usual, they never went down again!

In my local Cod Father, regular cod & regular chips £11.
Have been told potato prices have risen by 50% 60% in supermarkets
