Title: Race across the world
Post by: biloxi on January 11, 2023, 01:54:01 AM
I've just finished reading this book.
Cars started      100
Cars finished       56
L/R place            49    6787 minutes deducted, most likely through late arrival. Some sections required an average speed of more than 100km/h.
Throughout the actual race the L/R never gets a mention.

Hi,

Race?

My insurance does not cover me for racing, else I would have entered.  :whistle

Many years ago, Barbara entered her TVR in the Edmunds Rally of the Vales (South Wales), with special insurance organised by the Port Talbot MC. Competitors were required to drive circumspectly between stages, with the marshals knowing your departure time from the previous check point.

On one forestry track, clocking 70mph, she met a red Ford Escort coming the other way. Both cars "broke left", going up the steep high banks, passing gutter to gutter. I don't know about the Escort, but Barbara did not "lift off". The marshals at the end of that section apologised, said they were unable to stop the Escort.

I believe a Series Landy was entered in the following year.
