Title: Alternator ACR17 - Cooling Fan

Help - I have finally removed the broken alternator from my Series 2 and intend to fit a new one; transferring the old pulley over.  The 1 I have bought has the cooling fan however this slides past the keyway and freely rotates on the shaft of the alternator - should it remain fixed (am I missing a washer) or does it spin freely??

It's held in place once the pulley is bolted in position.
