Can anyone advise or help this guy who is stuck in Moylgrove - Wales. He has been there since Tuesday. Unfortunately I am in the wrong area.

As a member of the series2club I would like to ask you the following thing:
My son has a break down in Moylgrove/Wales with our Land Rover Series 2 from 1961 during his holiday trip. He stays actual as a student in UK and the Land Rover is normally in Leicester.
The RAC thought it should be the ignition coil but after changing today with a new one the problem wasn’t solved. As it seems something with the ignition or maybe with the fuel.
Peter Claughton from Land Rover Parts in Clynderwen tries to help him since Tuesday evening and also organised the new ignition coil. And tomorrow another chap who also restores Land Rovers seems to come and have a look.
As I understood from my son all the local garages seems to be too busy to help what I can’t really understand.
As you live in the area maybe you could recommend me any garage in the area - maybe with connection to the series2club - who would be interested and take the needed time to fix our Land Rover if the other chap tomorrow won’t succeed. My son is now in Moylgrove since two days and I would like that he could move on to the Snowdonia National Park as planed - if possible.

So he is currently broken down in Pembrokeshire, near Cardigan. Ping a message to Ritchie and see any of the S. Wales members can offer advice ?

If they think it's the coil - presumably no spark - then try a new rotor arm.

I've rung Ritchie and left a message on his phone.
There are two members in that general area, I've managed to contact one, who knows of a mechanic in Moylgrove and will look for his details and another member close by who will contact Tim and see what help he can offer.
I'll feed that back to Roland, the father.

On a facebook post it said rotor arm, so well done Wittsend for guessing correctly :tiphat

Yes it's the same problem that *&%^$ up my LWT at the Last Ripon Club Rally.
It's down to the copy Lucas rotor arms that are riveted to the plastic :shakeinghead
They leak to earth internally and you scratch your head(s) thinking all sorts things that might be wrong.
Petrol owners should swap/change to the red rotor arm as sold by SimonBBC and the Distributor Doctor.
A rotor arm is quite small and easy to cary a spare on board at all times.

... and if it's not the rotor arm you've only wasted a couple of minutes and eliminated one possibility.

What holds the non-riveted kind together? They seem to have a hole for the rivit, filled with the same material as the arm itself. Are they glued together, or is the contact just a tight fit over the plastic "rivit"?

I think they're bonded together. I've had one on my Series 3 for about 10 years now. It's definitely the best to get.
