No but I have heard that, just like in Australia, any used vehicle imported even temporarily needs to be spotlessly clean, including inside the chassis  -- They do check the insides of any box sections with access holes and charge   mega $ for any cleaning deemed necessary in Australia. I think it was a S2BFC round the world tripper who had the FC steam cleaned inside and out before sailing and still needed 2 runs through the washing station after arrival in Australia. :stars

NZ customs are VERY fussy on rust. If any rust is found the L-R may not be able to be registered for the road. Many UK imports have only been good for parts or sent back to the UK.

Thank you both very much - sounds like a step too far to me, I don't think I could ever get her THAT clean!
Very much appreciate your advice.
Cheers :cheers

Slightly related but not really.

Has anyone on the forum imported to the UK a vehicle from france or south africa or austrailia due to the climate and vehicle condition.

What is the procedure to get it correctly registered.

Will it be awarded the build year on the v5c and have the equivalent status of a uk built and registered vehicle.  For instance tax and mot exemption.

Or does the v5c have date of first uk registration on the v5c like when people used to transfer original reg numbers off when they asset stripped a vehicle.

France shouldnt be too bad

Australia and South African land rovers are mainly CKD with the added difficulties i registering.  If you are a club member then you will have read about it in our club magazine
