So presumably the front panel is a S2 type one with the flat surrounds and the headlamps have bowls - which means the deflector strip used on s2a's to stop a battery damaging the sealed beam unit when being fitted isn't used.

Interesting - not too difficult to have made a few old-style front panels!

Didn't the USA importer also insist the Weslake head was used as well?

Obviously they look great  ;), so the question should be reversed: why were they discontinued in domestic (home-market) models? At least on Station Wagon models?

They were discontinued on all domestic (and most export) models at the same time.

Not sure if the importer requested it, but I imagind the US sales people at least requested a more powerful engine, remember golden rod etc.
