helped a guy install his wire harness in his 2A, never touched petrol engines before until today, actually pretty simple wiring wise. ??? I was expecting a lot more wires for a petrol for some reason. entire harness fitted and installed for him in about 5 hours, not too bad.

still prefer diesels...though the petrol engine was very quiet..

Fixed the gearbox and engine to the chassis (but not bolted it down tight yet) and painted the engine, still needs cleaning the over paint, still got the manifolds to paint, will give that a go when I get Gaskets, and It was a nice day for it

Drivers side chassis bush, finally out today and turned out to be a split bush so that took the time trying not to score the chassis when one part was removed. All learning experience for the passenger side.

the 109 SW is an extremely low mileage '66 built in '65.  I decided to check the oil in the air cleaner.  When I removed the canister I discovered the original decal showing the optimum oil level.  This survived all those years.  I cleaned the outside surface of the canister with Windex and as you can see I lost some of the decal upon wiping it.
I wish I had not done that.
There is another embossed oil level indicator which is backward from the outside.

Last few bits for the engine-on-stand fire-up mini-dashboard. It begins to look like Sunday is a reasonable target to have a shot.

Still some other bits to sort first. Arrange and prime a fuel supply, and fill with 11 pints and calibrate dipstick etc., then another ?pint? for the oil filter (its the big one so maybe more?)

Then I thought I would turn it over with the plugs out and see if the oil pressure light shows any signs of going out, and get oil all circulated, before  applying sparks.

I drove the gas station and got fuel, then to the bank for some pocket cash, after that I went to Costco for groceries and stopped at Taco Bell on the way home.

I thought the air filters came painted black, mine is a 1966 88 SW, or are there variations over time?
