Which begs the question, why an R plate, and why is it not on rubber bumpers?
It's been converted to chrome bumpers. As rubber bumper MG's are now getting on a bit they tend to be left with the rubber bumpers for originality.

Was going to help a mate out in some woods but it got cancelled last night so I've been adjusting my brakes while underneath I found a  broken exhaust bracket so done it up temporarily for now.

Incidentally, I once had a primrose yellow BGT, which backfired through the carbs and burned the filter elements.
Later on, I fitted a 1.7 O-series from an Ambassador which gave similar performance with much less noise.

No idea about the plate, V5 says Reg Feb '79. Perhaps somewhere was an owner  "TLJ" ?  It also seems retro-fitting chrome bumpers is a "thing" in the MG world, I suppose it helps make it look that bit older. One of the decision factors for getting a later one was having an all-synchro gearbox with overdrive. .....and under the red is a colour called, I think, Inca Yellow... A google says they sold MGB in 7 different shades of yellow...  Maybe I'll ask DVLA if it had an earlier Reg no and when the colour changed.  We better go back to talking Landrovers or the Wrath Of Alan will descend  :-\

There is an LR connection, when Wheeler Dealers did a S3 converting it to LPG, it was yellow, but the wrong sort of Inca Yellow!

Yes. When I was younger (some 50 years ago!) myself and my then current "squeeze", toured the West Country from the Quantock Hills, Dartmoor and all around the coasts of Devon and Cornwall through to Dorset, in my Red 1600cc MGA.  If memory serves me, it was fitted with a special head - crossflow I think and high-compression.

Whatever, it went really well, and it's a happy memory.  Halcyon days.......

You could get a Heritage Certificate which would give the date of manufacture.  My MG was manufactured in October 1977 but not registered until February 1978. I produced a Heritage Certificate to DVLA and had the date of manufacture corrected on their records and got historic tax status from 1/4/18; instead of 1/4/19.

The lemony yellow colour referred to was probably Citron (clue is in the name!).  Primrose Yellow is a much nicer colour in my eyes, a sort of rich creamy colour. Perhaps one of the most desirable colours for the BGT.

Back in the early 1960's my late hubby decided that he and my Mother would have matching MGB's. They purchased two primrose coloured ones from the dealer. As the dealer went to give them the number plates and fill in all the necessary documents, hubby spotted the number plates. On ours the numbers added up to 12 on the second car they added up to 13. He complained and the next free number plate was duly registered - 14. Both cars were a great success but we later heard that sadly number 13 was involved in a nasty head on crash a few weeks after it was purchased.
Apologies for yet another MGB thread.

Years ago every now and then I used to get a run out in a Lotus Seven Roof on or off it was great fun. I'd have one of those if I could afford.
Back to land rover stuff.
I'd like to thank Peter Holden for the the hub nut spanner and thorough explanation to be able to do this task.
Earlier this week i adjusted the front hub bearings and packed with grease. I also made sure my free wheeling hubs were re greased too

Started the refitting of the front radiator panel, the original one was totally rotted out at the bottom.
