Hi everyone!

I am coming back with my post about Land Rover Series 2a which I am trying to locate for my friend. If you know the current owner of this particular car with licence plates VHO853A, if you see it on the street somewhere or if you stumble across it at a car rally please let me know. My friend spent over 5 years trying to locate this car as this was his father’s first car which started their business.

Last suggestions tell the only way is police with their ANPR but we still believe someone could hear about the car.

Facts:
- licence plates VHO 853A
- Land Rover Series 2a
- taxed until January 2024 on the DVLA site
- already sent requests to DVLA to disclose the owners data but this happens only with hit and run situations
- last MOT 2017

Have you posted on all the social media outlets, inc. Facebook you'll hit far more people.

It's going to be a long shot - but worth asking on here.

The only other way is to employ a private detective.

It's a great paradox and breach of GPDR that the DVLA will sell owners' details to unscrupulous car park companies, yet won't help owners of classic cars trace past owners.

The DVLA could make money out of this.
All they have to do is write/contact the owner in question and ASK if their details could be passed on to you.
If they say "Yes" as I think most people would then the game is on!
The DVLA could cover their time and costs and maybe charge a fee, say £100 ???

People like your friend would pay for this information.

There's a remote chance of narrowing the search if by chance the seeker had kept a record of its commission number. Then you could access the MOT records and find the address of the garage that had done the latest MOT. Then you could ask there, or likely organisations etc in the area.

Hi,

Have you tried a VED and MOT check, on line? I don't know how they handle "exempt" vehicles.
???

But insurance expiry date should be on the the same/similar website, which might indicate if this truck is currently on the road. If recent, but not insured, it might just indicate when it was last insured (expiry date)

You could try a GOOGLE for LAND ROVER VHO853A IMAGES (also try with the alternative registration). It may/should even refer to this correspondence.

The DVLA site is for tax and MOT details only. A tax free vehicle still has to be taxed or SORN and this is shown. If any vehicle isn't taxed or SORN then a red notice is displayed. For MOT exempt vehicles that haven't had an MOT "No records returned" is shown on a green background, but if a non MOT exempt vehicle hasn't got an MOT a red notice is displayed showing the MOT has expired. Insurance details aren't available to the general public.

Too late to edit. For "No Records Returned" read "No Results Returned."

Well, according to the DVLA’s website, that number is still allocated to a white Land-Rover that’s still on the road and taxed.
