Hi All
What does everyone do for European breakdown cover for old vehicles in France...anyone any experience of actually breaking down and having to rely on some of these companies and seeing how they actually perform and seeing if they meet expectations? ETA seem quite good....on paper
Not sure what vehicle to take....the 88" or an old Audi A2
Sorry marginal OT
Best

We had the cover provided as part of the insurance policy when we went around France in the 2CV. It's part of the Footman James classic plus cover and on paper more than covered our needs. So the classics have been covered this way, our "modern" vehicles covered by the RAC with a single instance policy. I have never used such cover myself, but know people that have used both FJ+ and RAC. In both instances the people involved found the cover to be fantastic, but it still puts your holiday on hold for a few hours. As with all recommend breakdown cover what's been good for one can be bad for another, just search the forum for cover recommendations.
That said if someone is coming to sort out your breakdown it's better than being stranded, particular if you can just let them repatriate the vehicle if it can't be repaired.
Enjoy your trip.

Thanks Mike...I'll check out RAC and see the options and compare...good idea to do a search...on the old forum...also going to get a few hire companies on speed dial just in case
2CV must've been fun...always wanted one of those

I've just binned the RAC, seriously over-priced for a poor level of service. Relying on their name....

we have uero cover through our bank (kust happens to be LV) and also through the classic vehicle policy

Yes, had to use it - a bit clunky but we got there
Seriously Series forum has pages of problems encountered with Footman James euro cover
