Hello Everyone -
A Rover owner here in the US sent me a parts carb. On it was a little brass tag, see attached pic. Grover's carb had one as well, but at some point in time it broke off, all that remained was the little collar the screw goes through.
What was the purpose of the tag? ???
Some have speculated a batch & production facility tag; some have suggested a quality control tag and someone suggested it was a tag added showing it had been rebuilt.
Any clues?

Mine has the same tag as well, not sure what numbers are on it though.
My later Zenith carb from a series III had the same tag only made in aluminium rather than brass.

Do you know how to read the numbers, or know of a site that has the info?
The rebuild kit I got came with two different sized enrichment jets - neither of them marked. The enrichment jet that I removed from the carb was a different size as well.
The pump jets, old nor new had markings on them either, same goes for tge slow running jet.
The only markings I have found are on the needle valve housing that was in the carb when I got it and is stamped '1•75'. When the carb was rehabbed during the first year of ownership I kept the bits-n-pieces that came off for comparison checks.
So, I have no clue what is supposed to be used. I used the enrichment jet that was on it, it was still in good shape.

They're all interchangeable. The latest ones have a smaller air bleed screw which is supposed to be more difficult than access but it isn't. It's fiddly but a thin screwdriver gets in. Something to do with emissions regulations somewhere.

They have all the original drawings and set up sheets for the entire Zenith range.

The rebuild kit is from Burlen.

They all came through new with tabs to identify the jetting - same as Strombergs on the RR Classics. I had a feeling that the original rebuild kits also came with a new tab, but I've got an original rebuild kit here (Rover from Blanchards) and can't find anything in the kit.

I'm certain that rebuild kits didn't have a new tag. I recently found an unopened ZRK6 Zenith rebuild kit in my box of spares along with an opened one. No tags.

The tag is sort of unique to the carb and its spec. Never seen a tag in a rebuild kit which makes sense as the kit will cover a number of similar but different spec. carbs.

The top number is 546 with 3617 underneath it.

This carb should belong on my 1967 Land Rover so great to know it is the original one. :tiphat
I need to get it back together now as I stripped it to re-bush the throttle spindle as it was a bit worn out.
