Bulkhead corrosion
« on: June 23, 2022, 11:16:24 AM »

Hi All,
have an issue with corrosion on the top of the bulkhead, inside under the windscreen.
My thinking was to take out the plate (one way or the other) and weld in a new one (anybody know if this piece is available as a replacement part?).
But I´m not sure if this part is only a piece or an angle pointing forward or if it´s bended as a U and the other plate is pushed into the top one, making the change a bit more complicated.
Any suggestion how to approach this?
All suggestions are highly appreciated.

From memory, as I have had this repair done on several bulkheads, it is a flat plate with a bend on the end / side to catch the water. Grind off , repair the damage underneath and tack back and seal

Last one I did needed this part. measured it and had one folded at the sheet metal place down the road, it's a simple part with a 90 degree bend. main issue was the length IIRC it's 53 inches, most metal brakes are 48 inch.

Thanks all, great advice I will investigate the "damage" a bit more in detail in the weekend and decide on next step.
