Falcons!
« on: July 31, 2022, 07:31:02 PM »

A couple of old pictures from the 60s, the falcon unit at Lossiemouth used to clear gulls from the runways to prevent Birdstrikes, one of the many varied tasks for a Land Rover.

Great pics.  :cheers

When I saw the thread title I thought it was about Project Falcons.

(I am sure all LR enthusiasts know what that was.... ;))

They were still using one (falcon that is, not the landy unfortunately) to control the rabbits at RAF St Mawgan until a couple of years ago. He used to live in an aviary outside the Officers mess.

I remember seeing them at the west end of Lossies runway clearing the birds off so a Shackleton could land followed by a Nimrod, late 60s early 70s.
