This seems odd.
« on: November 12, 2019, 06:08:18 PM »

Ordered something for the Landy on Ebay, paid via Paypal, and it got delivered in an Amazon box.
I actually hate Amazon and try not to use them, although I do have an account, ever heard of that before.

Maybe your eBay seller had an Amazon box from his prior purchase and reused it?

Properly sealed box from Amazon, not reused.

It’s called “drop shipping”.

The item is available on Amazon for, say, £5 with free delivery through “prime”. Your seller lists the same item on eBay for £8, and you buy it from him unaware that it’s cheaper on Amazon. He buys it and gets it delivered directly to you as a gift, pays eBay and PayPal their fees and pockets a pound or so for doing nothing.

With any "advert" you see on eBay or on any of the Shopping Selling Offers you get in the Facebook Ads -  :-\ Always worth pasting it into Amazon to see if you are being ripped off.

Amazon may be like  :marmite

You may hate the ethics of their business model - but I can order something on Prime - free delivery and it will the here tomorrow at 2:30pm  :first
Not so good for Series Land Rover parts....

For example:

You can get a spider Scare Box Spider @ £11.64 from web trader subsistentgadget.com or buy the same item from Amazon @ £2.99 delivered next day.

That's 2 Christmas presents sorted  :cheers

Don't care how cheap, I wouldn't buy a spider on the web.

Hi,

While we were living on Penang (1965-1967) I read an interesting little book ... THE UGLY AMERICAN. All short stories.

I think it was the first story that recounted a boatload load of American grain being delivered to a starving (drought) Third World country.

As each coolie carried a sack of grain off the ship, they were stopped while somebody stenciled a hammer and sickle onto every sack.

That is where you generally find them
