No Dorset steam show next year
« on: October 03, 2022, 10:57:22 PM »

A lengthy Facebook post blaming everything from covid to brexit to the war in Ukraine but seems like they don’t want to risk the costs in 2023. Given the number of folk that go and the price it’s hard to figure but guess the risk must be bigger as well and Dorset is a business, not a show for the community or charity.

Is this a sign of a quiet calendar next year or a one off? Time will tell. To be honest I think maybe too many shows now as lots of clashes every weekend so much as I am disappointed not to have the chance to go to Dorset again next year it means I can go to leafers at’pit instead. Do you think will be many not doing 2023?

Depending on where you are in Lancashire, the Fylde Vintage and Farm Show is a worthwhile visit. Held the first weekend in July at Wharles between Preston and Blackpool.

This is unfortunate, as if it fails to take place the year after and so on, then it will die out. The reasons given sound concocted, and I assume there was no appeal to find someone else who would take the risk of organising it?

Been before - not to show but to visit - for the life of me can’t think what it clashed with this year that meant I didn’t in 2022.

I’m about as Far East as you can get in Lancashire but get that way a fair bit as my folks live preesall.

Maybe no Dorset but the Longstock Rally is going ahead next September, dates to be confirmed.

There are quite a few in the NW, you can add Chipping and Flookborough to the list

Good that there are so many to chose from - I only went to Dorset for first time this year and was blown away by the size of it, I don’t think there is anything else close in terms of size or duration but I could be wrong. Been to both Chipping and Flookborough before and both were good shows. Never done Astle Park or Heskin yet

Apparently there is going to be no Classic land rover show next year as well, announced on Facebook so I've been told. The bigger shows just cost too much now to put on now, this is why we need to support our local shows.

All the best Gary
