Lightweight seen at Imber this morning. Anybody on here?
« on: December 30, 2022, 09:14:02 PM »

Had a thoroughly pleasant morning today out on a LRSOC drive on Salisbury Plain this morning. Thank you to gcc130 on here for organising a great day out. Apart from meeting up with a Series 2 Club group doing the same thing, we came across this very smart 2A Lightweight in the car park at Imber. I couldn't find the owner in either group.

Does it belong to anybody on here, or does anybody know who owns this very smart Rover 1.

I am still in the process of rebuilding the same vehicle, so if the owner is local, I would really like to make contact if anybody knows where they are.

Annoyingly I couldn't make Imber. Hopefully Easter when it will be open again.

Cheers,

Good looking truck, I’ve always liked the look of the 11a lightweight😎
Between us we had a fine collection of series landrovers.

Below is a link (hopefully!) to a thread about the restoration of my truck 39 FG 70

https://forum.militarylightweight.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=2214

I spent two years stripping and rebuilding it, small parts I could get in the shed but everything else was done outside.  The only part I didn't strip completely was the engine as it was recently done by the previous owner.  My favourite part was doing the gearbox (a correct serial number unit I got from Ph0en1x-Uk with a failed layshaft).

Hi Chris,
I had been following your rebuild on the Military Lightweight Forum - I hadn't twigged that this one was yours! Pity I missed you, but I'll drop you a PM in the New Year as it would be good to swap information and catch up.
Thank you!

Wow! Nice! We where there. I was in the blue 2A 109" with the bonnet on the roof.

Remind me, what year did you buy that gearbox off me? I'm glad it's gone to a good home and is back in service! :)

It was September 2013, we had a tatty Disco 1 then so the gearbox got chucked in the back of that.

I saw HNJ there which I think is yours?
