sadly its all about making a thief think twice and move to another less protected vehicle. if they want it, they'll take it. thats the sad truth

i knew a guy who had his 90 stolen by a hiab crane lifting it over his garden wall, cars blocking it in, pedal locks on. its all about delaying and risk/reward ???

Looking at that wheel clamp, how secure would it be against such tools? I fear “not very”…

And you'd be right - but this is one of many layers of security...and, this being a 'lively' area of south london, I have paranoid curtain-twitching neighbour across the road and next door who have the police on speed dial  :cool

At the end of the day nothing is infallible - they could turn up with a HIAB. Or they could take one look and decide to nick the rather nice series 2 in a road across the park that has no discernible security...

That should get the crime number for the insurance claim within a week but a visit by the police may take longer :shakeinghead

Many high value stolen vehicles are destined for Africa, according to Essex police's stolen vehicle intelligence unit

Good to see that the Police in my County are being proactive in this area.

It does answer the question "What are the Police doing?"

Unfortunately, it doesn't answer the question "What are the Courts doing.....?"

It wouldn't hurt to post these vehicles on Guns and Rovers, I've seen a few Rovers for sale here in the US with UK registration plates mounted on then. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the stolen trucks are ending up here under assumed identification considering the prices they go for here as compared to the UK.

The proper Diskloks are good, I've got one on my motor, (and had one on the Morris before I flogged it) I seem to recall reading somewhere that the car thieving fraternity really do dislike these as they're actually quite difficult to smash off, and if faced with one will nick the motor with a beaver tail recovery truck or whatever rather than tackle the Disklok on the street.

I have just acquired a disklok thinking it was a good idea.  It is the size large.

It weigh 4kg according to the bumph, is that going to damage the upper column bearings with prolonged use.

I appreciate a miscreant would damage the bearing more prying the steering lock off.

Are discloks effective as my primary defence at present is to block in the land rover with another vehicle but that hinders me.

I've had a disklok on my 2a for years it won't destroy your steering col bearings!  :RHD
I also had one on the Morris Minor before I flogged the car to a mate, he continues to use the disklok on it too.
I can't remember where I read up on these but they certainly reckoned them most effective and that theives generally had the same opinion!

Thanks for the first hand insight Porkscratching.

I always though the arm bit locked against the a pillar but its sits towards the centre of the vehicle according to the set up.

Anything that can stop deter or slow down.

Out of interest where did you stow it when not in use?

I’ve got a disklok.  Right yellow so it acts as a deterrent. Been on for many years and so far no problems, although the lock sometimes jams 😒 which can be problematic

I just throw it in the back behind the seats, my motor is full of tools and assorted junk anyway!

That in itself is piled up with tools and junk.

You'll have to lob it in the passenger foot well then. (no doubt with all the other debris!)  :cheers
That's the snag with a truck cab, lack of storage space..

Footwell was a thought.  Usually got oil and fuel cans there!

Tell me about it, lack of storage that is.
