« on: January 04, 2023, 09:06:13 AM »

Hmm... do I need yet another smart charger - perhaps not -  but the oil/fuel pump looks useful   :cheers

I got one of this type of oil pumps in the past it was very slow moving oil and  on the 3rd or 4th use ( after a couple of years of ownership) it leaked to the point of being unusable.

Was that EP90 or engine oil?

I'll probably be using mine for Diesel rather than oil, so perhaps it might last a bit longer   ???

I have one only used for ep90 and diesel and found it to be good , and at that price and three year warranty can’t really go wrong .

Just to add to this, these are sliding vane pumps and very sensitive to contamination.... If you're using it to pump oils / fuels, you would be well advised to filter the inlet if there's a chance you might suck some crud through the pump (if pumping out a fuel tank for example).

That said, at £10 they can be largely be considered disposable! As others have posted, for the money you can't really go wrong  :first

Considering my upcoming project, I think a trip to Lidl will happen this weekend.

I pumped heating oil from one tank to another fine with it a couple of times it was pumping diesel from jerry cans in to a lorry that did for it I ended up having to put in in a plastic bucket to catch the spillage. As said above I wonder if a filter on the inlet would have helped to prolong its life.

Over here they also have a jump starter https://www.lidl.nl/p/ultimate-speed-auto-accuoplader-met-starthulpfunctie/p100337915. It's not in the UK shop, as far as I can see. I seem to remember a thread on jump starters on this forum, but I can't find it. It says you need a 220-socket for the Lidl jump starter to work, the reason why I decided to have a pass. I need it to work without the convenience of a wall outlet. I now found an Utrai Jstar mini 12V 1000A on Marktplaats (division of eBay). Can any of you recommend one, or direct me towards the thread on jump starters or boosters or whatever it is named?

Thanks.

Regarding the oil pump, I have one like that but very slow but a little better if you run the engine first to warm/thin the oil. I found it handy if you overfill the oil and need to take a little out but for a full oil change slow and I wonder if I have all the old oil out as never sure if the pipe goes to the bottom of the sump. The small bore of the suction pipe makes it slow and larger pipe wont fit down the dipstick hole, perhaps a thin wall brass pipe might be better ???

The battery chargers are great value but I've found that the ctex last much longer but do cost more :stars

I have a Ctek cordless battery charger. Expensive but very useful and well made.

I had my first ever Lidl experience only a week ago.
A new store opened just before Christmas and it's next door to my local Toolstation and Screwfix. I couldn't resist going in for a look about but the centre isle all seemed to be Christmas items and toys. Maybe it was the wrong time of the year to be looking for tools.
