A few years ago I had to sort out an electrical problem on the local gravedigger's Defender. There is a bank of fuses on the bulkhead so I had to go through them to find which one had blown. I replaced it with a spare which didn't blow.

Yes ...

And so does the Series 2 & 2As - but in our case they used a double fuse holder, but only one fuse is used.
In Station Wagons they used the 2nd fuse - purple wire for the interior light.

.... As you can see in our wiring diagrams.

Yup... two were definitely being used on Grover.  Might I suggest an edit within the wiring diagrams?  The one marked 'Series 2A Petrol, positive earth' shows 2 35amp fuses in use, but it doesn't say it's for the Station Wagon.

Mpudi: So how did the land rover get up the tree?

Ah .... without checking the diagrams - does it need re-labelling as only the SW had the interior light from new.
Unless there was an optional extra ???

Lots of past owners have used the 2nd fuse place to connect up all sorts of additional electrical equipment.

.........

On top of all of this - everything, and I mean EVERYTHING is now fused.  The headlights have their own fuse, the brake-lights have their own fuse, the indicators have a fuse, and so on.  The guy is a HUGE fan of fuses.  We are both fans of multiple grounding points as well.

I hope left and right headlights are separately fused. Losing both at speed on a winding road at night is not fun!  :-\

AFIK it was an option, I know on the black dash models the wiring for the two way switch for the interior light on the de luxe trim is on the Forward Control wiring diagram.
