Sourcing Allen key hex type
« on: February 20, 2023, 03:49:18 PM »

I want a few imperial Allen keys with a tee handle. Any idea for a source in Uk?
Kennedy are a nice tool but time I’ve ordered half a dozen plus vat and carriage is well over £30.

I have found BONDHUS to be extremely durable and good quality.

For a one-off job I'd cut off an old Allen key.

Are you not better off getting a 1/4 drive socket set with allen key bits included?
Not sure if imperial ones available in UK
Quite a few on amazon

Definitely available. I've got one!

What I do want if anybody comes across them is a BA set for 1/4" drive ratchet and a 3/8" Whitworth socket set (if such a beast exists).

While not a set with a box Zoro tools sell 1/4 BA sockets, not that cheap to buy them all but very much worth it in my eyes.

They also sell a small 3/8 drive whitworth set but I can't vouch for it. Although Sealey tend to be quite good

In the end I cut a 5/16” Key off and used a 1/4” socket.  Worked ok but the job in hand, 4 5/16” bolts deep in the headstock of a myford lathe, which really need a long thin Allen key. Hence idea to get a set of,proper, tools. Even a bit tight with a 1/4” socket bodge.  This led to the idea of a set. There are a few assorted imperial heads on the lathe to,adjust carefully.

Thanks for this. Sealey stuff is fine for occasional use. Cheaper from Zoro than it is from Sealey direct... How does that work?
