As I hope most people are aware, the Land Rover Series 2 Club will be running a substantial stand and display again at this year’s NEC Classic Motor Show. As we ramp up to the event, this post is to ask if anybody can assist with an Audio Visual need.

We want to display a big screen (I suggest on a floor mounted stand) which will run video and images on a roll of Series 2 Club events, historic film and so on. These can either run from a laptop or from an SD Card / Memory Stick into the screen itself. Size – we’re not trying to advertise in Piccadilly, but it needs to be big enough to be able to attract attention.

We need to keep our costs as low as possible, so the organising committee are looking at first to see if any members of the club can assist with help on this – either by lending us a telly, or by advising us on the most economical route for borrowing / hiring one for the show period. Anybody got a real job in this field who could help?

If anybody can help, can they please let either myself or the event organiser - Edryd Coleman (Jepster) know and hopefully we can sort this one out. A PM on here would probably be simplest initially.

Doubtlessly there will be other appeals for help as time rolls on.

Many thanks

Maybe a projector linked to pc if the stand is situated next to a flat wall?

The problem with that is that the projector would need to be up quite high and still there is the issue of people walking in front of the screen. Maybe back projection might work, but the simplest solution would be a large screen telly.

That's a great offer - many thanks.
Can I keep that as a reserve option? I'm wondering if we might need something a bit bigger.

But I think you right, bigger would be better. In the bustle of the NEC we could do with something eye catching.

Of course... There are limits...
I think the NEC might object to the power demands...

  • 2A or not 2A that is the question Will Shakespeare

Probably not an option because of costs, but I assume that large event organisers have access to companies who`s business is supplying stuff to exhibitors. Portable toilets for example.

Maybe a modern-day Radio Rentals might do a deal for some free advertizing.

Like many things today it is probably a case of if you want you pay. That is the price.
promoting the club is no bad thing and I for one missed seeing the Series 2 Club stand last year.

With regard to the projector idea, would it be possible to set something up on the tailgate of a 109 and screen on cab.  ???

That's an interesting idea actually. What would be fun would be to use one of the original film projection units that used to bounce all over the world spreading the word. Chances of finding one of those is probably nil.

Keep the ideas rolling!

Many thanks

George Smith has recreated th mobile cinema but I think it would take up too much room.  We do have a projectpr (I used it for inspector training.

Thanks Peter,
Also, projectors aren't meant to run flat out for 10 hours a day over 3 days.
Lets see what club members come up with, but I think we can find something. Worst case, I'll pick up a second hand one on eBay - they seem to be dirt cheap although a stand might be a challenge.
