I have a few (way too many) of both types. The Aldi one has changed from it's original incarnation and in my opinion is no quite as good now as the current Lidl unit.
Basically the Aldi unit display is a bit pants, I've had one fail, and it's  features and finish are not quite as good as the current Lidl unit.
For the money you can't go wrong with any, but given a choice go Lidl at the moment.
Just my opinion, yours may differ.

I have had in the past units from Lidl, Aldi and Ctek, perhaps I have been unlucky and perhaps designs have changed but only my Ctek units remin and still perform well whilst the others have failed this may be to designs or the faults on the batterys I used them on ???
The Lidl and Aldi prices offer great value and many people think the quality is great but as always you pay your money and take a chance :wooly-jumper

I've had a couple of Ctek units, first one failed after 18 months. I was/is very good though so I bought a second which has been fine for a few years.
If I needed another, I'd be tempted by a Lidl one at 1/4 the price.

I, too, have had 2 CTEK smart chargers fail over about 8 years - the first after 18 months and the second after 5 years, so now I have 3 Lidl/Aldi ones which have been fine over the last 5 years.

I might buy another Lidl one as I always have batteries/vehicles standing idle for months (years  :-[) and at the moment try to remember to move the chargers round every month or so.

Of course, the 3 year warranty is attractive as well   :cheers

By the way, has anyone also spotted the plasma cutter on the Lidl page HERE? At £79.99  it's quite a bit cheaper than the cheapest ebay offerings.
I realise it might not be made to the same standard as more expensive ones (and it needs a compressed air supply), and the torch lead looks a bit short, but with a 3 year warranty it might be fine for "hobby" use   ???

For information,
I note that Lidls battery charger offering will be available from 13/02/19 and Aldi from 16/02/19.

Ill be buying another Lidl one after I lent my previous one out to the father in law who has since decided he is keeping mine!  :whistle :-X

A point in general about the '3 year warranty'.
As someone who has tried to use this facility, once, I have become aware that only the first 12 months are supplied by the Retailer.
Months 13 to 36 are provided by a 3rd party who clearly specialise in this service, and it's no longer a case of nipping back to your local store to exchange. You will be paying postage or carriage, and you may suddenly find that it makes better financial / practical sense to simply buy a new one.

Or take it apart and fix it yourself.

Regards.

At £13 a pop - it's certainly cheaper to buy a new one every year, less paper work ???

I've got a Ctek MXS 3.6, an Ultimate Speed ULGD 3.8 A1 from Lidl, a Dunlop one from Action and a Cosmic, a very basic one from Gamma (B&Q or Wickes where you are). All 4 still perform flawlessly.

Lidl are also listing a motorised oil extraction pump for £13.

I wonder if it’s any better than my Pela manual vacuum pump (which is slow even with warm oil) and whether it’s remotely suitable for bleeding brakes.... :agh

I find my pela 6000 to be excellent to get engine oil out with bothering to get under the car etc to undo the sump plug. I tried one of these 12v pumps to move some diesel from tank to tank and it was rubbish to be honest then leaked diesel everywhere so i binned it.
