I've got and old belt. £15 is a lot of money for 3 small bits of leather.  :agh

''Ive got and old belt. £15 is a lot of money for 3 small bits of leather".

Hi Big H,

I know a couple of cows that would disagree with that sentiment.

A local saddle/harness maker may have some thick off-cuts. You local trekking centre may have some broken stirrup leathers. Ask nicely, they may even give you some multi-purpose binder twine.

Exmoor trim sell the straps £2.92 each or £8.21 for three.
I just bought some for my series one seat backs.

If you mean the "chess piece" thingeys, then yes, I have them.

Hi BigH,

A long time ago, early 1960s, The RAF (RAF Faldingwoth, in Lincoln), gave me a Standard Vanguard, and a "thingy", told me to collect my tool-box and head for RAF Stafford. (I seemed to get more than my share of this sort of job. BO?..

Background.  Faldingworth had transferred a trailer fire pump to Stafford. Stafford rejected it, as it need some TLC and "corrective surgery" One complaint concerned a short length of wood, about 3" diameter, and about 4" long. It purpose was to locate/retain the hose nozzle.

Let's see how hawkish the Forum Censor is?

"Chess Piece Thing" would have been acceptable. What sadist would send an innocent young bachelor off on his own, carrying a big red "tampon"?  :-[ Well, that's what the parts book called it.

Finger's crossed.
