Any experiences with Beaumont gearboxes?
« on: May 06, 2020, 06:29:01 PM »

Hi folks.

I’ve just approached Beaumont’s in Halifax regarding a SIII gearbox rebuild and am awaiting a reply.

Does anyone have any recent experience of the build quality on their Series gearboxes? (Please feel free to PM if there’s anything that could put the forum in an awkward position).

I’ve looked through a number of forums for comments and while there are a few negatives - I’m aware that often positive feedback is rarely reported.

Any feedback would be welcome: I have asked them for a price for a bit of a gem to be built (only Italian OEM/genuine LR parts and big-brand bearings) and am aware this will drive the standard price up. I’d love a Whitehouse box, but I’d like to explore Beaumont’s first given that the basic price is less than half.

The company is local to me and I’d like to support them if possible.

Thank you.

I had my Series One gearbox rebuilt by them about 20 years ago. I have never used them since - simply because the gearbox is still running perfectly!

They did my gearbox a while back but only started using it last year, feels fine, pretty honest overview of the box and only did what they thought was necessary due to the low mileage, I did the transfer box myself. The service was quick (well it was back then) and the price was very good.

Thanks all - really good feedback both in the thread and via PM.

I’ll factor it in while I wait for a response.
