This is a photo of mine from July 1981 showing the patch on the original canvas - I seem to remember it being black leathercloth. The reproduction one looks a pretty good match to me!

This is probably all settled but I happened to find my photos of my "classic khaki" from UCC:

Before and After in late November 2018, then late November 2019.

Looks great on the blue. I prefer the tan coloured straps  :o Will be ordering one up soon
