A bit of an update ........

I've challenged Paintman about their prices. The advertised prices on their website - https://paintman.co.uk/faqs-frequently-asked-questions/paintman-shipping/uk-shipping/ - show that their charges are based on weight and that it is £7.50 for 500ml. Where they get £9.50 for 400ml I don't know. They have explained that they use an overnight service and their products are classed as "dangerous goods"!

I bought 500ml of Isopon etch primer from IgnitionLine  for £6.99 with free postage and I have bought 6 X 125ml tins of enamel paint @ £3.60 / tin from JacksonsArt (for a garden project) where the shipping costs were only £3.95 for next day delivery. Paintman Paints must surely be making a huge mark up on their shipping costs.

Were it not for the fact that I've already got a tin of Paintman DBG for my current project, then I'd have kicked them into the long grass.

And one final update ......

Paintman have offered to refund the £2 but have also said that their quoted prices were out of date. A lot of effort for a couple  of quid but at least members now know that the delivery charges from Paintman Paints are high even if their product quality is good. If there are any club members close to Retford, perhaps they could offer a relay service?

Well done!  :first

Might be only £2 for you but the collective for everyone will be significant I imagine.

I always use these people. https://auto-paint.co.uk/

3 x 400ml cans, mixed to order, any colour, usually next day delivery (maybe slightly longer at the moment).
Good quality. 3 cans just cost me £28 total. inc vat and delivery (which was £5.50)

Nothing is too much trouble for them, and no, I dont have shares in the company  :tiphat
Looking at their cans, I think they supply other retailers who sell it on at well over double the price.

Rather late to the party here, but I have been buying directly from HMG for nearly 25yrs. I have always found them extremely helpful - prepared to colour match to paint flakes and mix small batches.

If you ring and ask to speak to someone for some technical advice, you find they have far more paint bases than they show on their website (which already has loads). If you tell them exactly what you are going to do (what you are painting on to, how you will be applying it, likely temperature etc) then they will recommend the one which is optimised for you so you should get the best possible results.

I am still a very happy customer!
