Not an outage but I had a panic at one point where the ‘Main Section ‘ bit had auto collapsed , though5 I had been kicked out for asking too many stupid questions until I found the expand button.  :cool

Cloudflare had a DNS outage. A router went bad in Atlanta causing misroutes over it's backbone. The overflow traffic it looks like caused issues for the Google DNS too.

Our server uses Cloudfare and as all our internet services were knocked out not just the fourm - that might explain it.

Anyway after re-booting the server is working fine again  :first

And in English ? 😀

Your computer asked a cloudflare server to view this forum and it's request either A) didn't make it or B) the response didn't get to you.

The Backbone is essentially a massive Motorway in internet terms. Lots of traffic (Packets of data) moving about. The DNS (Domain name system) is a bit like the postcode address system, When a router (an electronic "you go here... You go there") starts sending your data in the wrong direction and off onto the 'Small roads' of the internet it all gets blocked up and nothing works or at least very slowly.

Thank you for your explanation Devon2a!

There's no doubt that the language used in Information Technology is a closed book to most of my generation, and, I suspect, to a good many of the users of this forum.

Personally, I quite like it, in the same way I like the sound of Italian, Latin or Arabic, without understanding any of it.......
