Lyndon came to one of our local workshop meets back in 2008/2009 to 'show off' his newly repaired galvanised bulkhead to us all.

Let's just say, for the price, you would have hoped they would have used an experienced welder/fabricator.

Needless to say none of us where impressed.

A shame though, as we do need bulkhead suppliers.

I have a Pegasus bulkhead. The product itself is excellent as far as I can tell. I can't fault it.
But it took 24 months longer than it should have done, which is quite a wait, and the price went up part-way through the job. Both of those things I could deal with as my own progress was glacial.

The communications (or lack of) were the worst bit though - I spent most of that period expecting to hear that Pegasus had vanished along with my payments!

I’ve been following Pegasus on Facebook, they seem to have recently moved to a new workshop and ramped up production?

I got the impression they were splitting the business. The bulkhead part being the bit separated off. No idea why though.

Yes, I should have said I was following Pegasus Bulkheads.

A shame though, as we do need bulkhead suppliers.

As increasing numbers of people seem to be focused on originality and preservation now, I think while we certainly do need good suppliers of new bulkheads, we also need capable and competent bulkhead repairers. It seems clear that there are good people about, but not enough to cope with the demand - certainly in this neck of the woods. Ashtree was good enough to bring basic LRs back to life, but certainly not restoration quality. Their charges weren't far off a new one either by the time you added in all the time spent chasing them, delivery and collection etc. etc.
I have a 1961 bulkhead which needs restoration preferably to replacement as its only really panel work and pillars which need sorting. I could do it myself, but I can't justify a jig fabrication for one job. Do we have any recommendations?

Thought... I wonder which lucky person has got Ashtree's jigs - they were actually nice bits of kit. Hopefully they haven't been cut up for scrap by some ignorant receiver.

Pegasus bulkhead part is now a limited company, part funded by a chiropodist.  :stars

The amount chiropodists charge suggests that blowing a few quid on an engineering venture is small money.
I know Pegasus have come into quite a lot of bad press over recent years, but I cannot fault the quality of what they sell - be it bulkheads or small items. I've also found them to be incredibly helpful and accommodating. I know that's not everybody's experience, but its not all bad news!

Isn't that called "footing the bill"?

Not being bothered with originality I went for a brand new bulkhead as the funds were available. Ian reckoned the old one was repairable but it would have taken longer to remove it, repair, rustproof, respray and refit bumping up labour costs.
