When I finished Daisy the first time we went to Billing Landrover show (2000 or 2001) and Daisy was put on the S2 club stand, a chap from foreign parts was admiring the Landie and we become quite deep in conversation about how far the resto went, he said he was impressed and asked to buy Daisy. I said it's not for sale then he said name your price.... I swithered but Madam said quietly to me - if you sell Daisy after all the six years of work you will regret it. What a good lass. The Guy came back later and said he would pay for our train ticket home to Glasgow as well, first class too. I said sorry, not for sale. :RHD

Hi Dave,

How long did you say you had been married? And you still don't speak the lingo?

Roughly translated, she was telling you that it was her turn now ... so don't go getting ideas!

Many yonks (late 1950s?), I eead an account of an American husband, who told his wife wanted to buy a new British sports car.  She was remarkably compliant ... only asking that it should match red coat.

"But you haven't got a red coat!" ???

"Yes I have, Darling! It's the one in the store window!"

Been there, done that ... I usually get my way.  :whistle  (You should have seen her face, one Xmas, when I walked into the kitchen with her prezzy ... a donkey foal).

Thinking of Daisy and "name your price", what's the most all y'all've been offered?

I was offer $28K (£21,380) about this time last year, BEFORE we had Grover out of tge garage under his own power, tropical top and sides aren't even done yet.

I did have pangs of regret with a tired one I  owned but wasn't using much, which I let go to a local land rover dealer he paid a fair price and moved it on. I put the reg into mot history a few years later (as you do) to see 3 years after I sold it failed the mot in spectacular fashion due to corrosion, felt a bit less regret then.
