A while back for some reason I became fascinated by jerry cans. The way they are stackable and their overall aesthetic appeals to me. The photos of them stacked by the thousand in the second world war are amazing to me
I would love to have my own stack of jerry cans in the garden but withiout fuel it seems pointless and unfortunately fuel goes off.
Another trivial thing the article doesnt mention is the pressed in cross pattern allows expansion and contraction due to weather. I also found a photo of what I believe is a jerry can stamping machine
I also want to comment on the 'easy pour' design, the air channel that allows pouring without the chugging bit is amazing. It seems silly that it's easier and safer to fill up a lawnmower from an old, heavy 20L can than a new plastic 5L one.
The final thigh I found when looking at jerry cans was a video (advert) that compares a good quality jerry can to a really terrible one. The video should be in this link:
https://www.jerrycans.co.uk/wavian-quality/But the basis of it is that the cheap jerry can has somehow been made with the welded seam being prominent all around. Very likely to get damaged and it looks terrible. Maybe my screen shot attachment will work
