I checked them out. The business is run from a private house in Redhill, Surrey. Paul Halley does all the production and manufacturing while his wife Debbie, does the management side. It appears the work is done in a garage.
Early November 2018 I ordered a refurbished ignition switch/steering column lock for my Series 3. It arrived as promised mid December about 6 weeks later. I've heard good and bad thongs about them. When I ordered my part I was told everything in done in order of the order being received so nobody gets priority. I haven't fitted the switch yet but I wanted a spare one just in case.

I am surprised to hear that members are having problems with them I have always received my order.
They are very slow at processing orders I agree and fail miserably in responding to emails but my orders arrive eventual. Checking my records my last order for parts was in October 2020 and it took all of 14 days before they arrived.
As they manufacture the parts and dispatch them and are a two person business as some members suggest perhaps they get overwhelmed with orders from time to time.
I reckon you are probably right. Lets see how turski gets on and lets hope things are on track.

Pegasus as a company works when they are not under pressure.  As soon as they are under any pressure things go to pot.

As a person who had a bulkhead on order from them before the bulkhead side of things was split away from the parts side I have known both the highs and lows.  Whilst they are both friendly (when you do get to speak to them) neither has any idea how to run a business when there is any pressure on supplying parts.

In the end I was forced into taking court action which I won and received my money back.

I had a bulkhead from them. As a product it is absolutely excellent. It did take 2 1/2 years to come though, and I very much had the impression that they weren't great as business people. I cut them plenty of slack (and being somewhat committed to getting it), and it did work out.

I think it's a pity really, hopefully the splitting of the business into bulkheads and 'other' will help.

Firstly thank you to Wittsend for a very generous offer... I suppose that now that I have paid Pegasus and am pretty sure via TNT website that the courier has been booked, I can wait for the arrival of the pipes.

I can confirm I am liaising with Debbie Halley, so it is the same company we are all talking about.

It does seem that some people have had terrible experiences with Pegasus and nothing like this should ever go to court as Alan mentioned... all the while with others having good service. I guess the real question here is about their actual products. I used them as they supplied something else that no-one does, in pre-bent pipes... and to be honest, Im a bit tired if receiving "iffy" product quality from Britpart via Craddock and Paddocks, much of the blue packet stuff is OK but nothing is outstanding and I have had to replace parts like axle U-bolts as they would fit over the axle.... there just seems no quality control and you hope that its OK when it arrives, the bigger companies are mere box shifters..... it seems like Britpart get batches from where they are manufactured, some OK and others cheap quality.

So the benefit in a company like Pegasus is if their build quality was consistently pretty good. This may be a simple case of a good manufacturer who just isn't good at running a business..... I myself run a safari company here in Botswana and its obvious to me that if I did not respond the client requests etc I soon would not have any clients.... essentially I understand the "service" element of what I do.... It looks like Pegasus as struggling with this and perhaps they are not deliberately trying to defraud people, its possible they just don't know how to run one side of the business well enough and get into trouble when things go wrong or they when they get busy.

Perhaps sitting down with them and explaining this to them and ascertaining where the issue is would help... after all, without this series2club community help I doubt I would have been able to rebuild my car.... and would it not serve the community well to have a supplier who provided consistent quality parts backed up by good service?

Just my thoughts..

If you want good quality parts and service you could try PA Blanchard.  Nick Blanchard really knows his stuff and has a very good reputation.

The pipes that you mention that Alan kindly offered to make.  I bought replacement ones from EBay but being copper they were easy to bend.

If you find copper has gone hard and difficult to work just anneal it.

I checked Blanchards, either couldn't find the part or not in stock..

Pegasus just had them pre-bent so easier for me so that's why I used them

The initial issue I had with the straight versions I originally bought from Craddocks is that as they are short pipes and 1/4 inch for thicker, the bender I have isn't sufficient for it... the fixings at the end of the pipes got in the way for a sharpish bend.... having them pre-bent saves me the issue of buggering them up (which I did) and having more sent to Botswana.

I hope the ones coming are good and that will be the end of it for me... means I can get the engine and gearbox tested properly with clutch and brakes and then put the rest of the body on etc.

Morning Roger
Greetings from a cold wet damp and windy miserable UK December morning! :tiphat
I think your point is right - they do produce good stuff - they just seem to fall flat on the customer service and communication element. There is no excuse for this - even as a one man band. I deal with fleet and private individuals all over the world and its absolutely critical that especially overseas clients are confident that when they part with their cash, that they will get the service they asked for. I know, having spent far too many years in your neck of the woods how hard this is.
Pegasus is a small company and it should be therefore lean and nimble. In reality they should be the "go to" company for the specialist stuff given that I know for a fact that they can deliver.
Let us know how and when your pipes arrive and once that happens (or doesn't happen!), I'll get in contact with them and have a word. I think its time we bottomed this one out once and for all. Either we buy from them or we don't, but with mixed results from everybody, I think its worth giving them an opportunity to explain / justify themselves.
If the pipe doesn't arrive, as Wittsend says, we have the technology to make one for you if need be. I also reckon I might have one or two spare original ones knocking about. I'll trade it for a free safari in the Okavango...

If the Craddock ones are copper and you anneal them you can bend them by hand you do not need a pipe bender. I used the steel ones as a pattern taping the copper ones to them as I bent them with hand pressure.

diffwhine  I will let you all know when they arrive... I just like the idea of have a source of good products, rather than a source of hit and miss products.... lets see what happens when mine arrive.

Romahomepete... true that I didn't think about annealing.... I only have a blowtorch though.... I think mine a cuprinol?, not suer though... they are not as shiny as copper and are dull like Cuprinol.

This is utterly tedious, the same story of "Great product, poor customer service" has been going on for years. You would have expected that being taken to Court a number of times would have sent some sort of message, obviously not. That they "went under" and have re-emerged with what looks like exactly the same issues..... Sorry, I'd not even consider buying from them, no matter how good the parts are - and no, they don't "make it all in a garage", a chunk of the previous issues, as I understand it, was that they were buying in parts to weld together that were sub-standard and had to be returned/remanufactured. While that was happening they were also, I believe, selling the other parts they had in stock as individual parts/panels....so when the replacement bits came in they were out of stock of some other part.... utterly chaotic.

With S2 vehicle parts being a big part of their business you might expect they'd be visible on here.....

In the early days of Pegasus' "troubles" several times S2C members tried to offer advice about customer service etc.
The advice/help fell on deaf ears  :shakeinghead

Our advice today is to research the company and read the posts on this and the old forum - and on other forums in the Land Rover world.
Never part with any money you can't afford to lose.
If an order arrives then that's a bonus.

And here's the thing.
No matter how good a part or items is - if it can't be delivered in a reasonable time frame, then it's useless and not worth the effort and worry.
Shop elsewhere.
If no one else is offering the part/item then it doesn't exist.

Look up the director on Linkedin.  :-\

His background is Production Management, Management of Stores and Warehouse, Stock Control, Kanban System, Purchasing department management, Production Controller etc etc.

It certainly makes for interesting reading.

If anything, quite the opposite. It would see that on paper is the right man for the job.  :stars
