I finally did the 7 -> 10 upgrade and I'm the world's worst person for dragging my feet between upgrades. It seems like EVERY TIME something breaks and takes days of fiddling to get it working. But not this time. It just ..... worked.
A few things about Win10 really make me happy. FINALLY AFTER ALL THIS AGGRAVATION, in windows explorer when you click something in the right pane it doesn't scroll the parent folder to the very bottom of the left pane. If you've ever tried to delete a fraction of thousands of files on the right, and hated having to scroll the left back up EVERY *&%^$ TIME, you'll be grateful.
FINALLY Win10 has enough smarts to learn that when I delete something in windows explorer, I damn well mean to delete it. It finally quit asking "are you sure???" and just does it. I can still get it back from the recycle bin.
Win10 has aggressive disk space retrieval that happens in the background. It cleans up your recycle bin for you, unneeded browser cache entries, and removes old unneeded tmp files. It reorganizes your drives once in awhile, and just does some nice housekeeping, automatically.
Win10 has moved the goalposts one step closer to taking over the box, and eliminating the controls that we geeks have always relied on. If you dig you'll find the tools you're used to, but now they have a nice layer of veneer. It's becoming less of a tool and more of a pretty interface.
Would I do it again? In a heartbeat. This is their best release since Windows 2000.
