Unlike Gene I didn't have the right kit for rescuing inept drivers in the unexpected Yorkshire snow today. Rescued one BMW but snapped the ratchet strap I was using as a tow rope on the second.

Got home safely and found the misplaced proper towing strap in the garage - it's now safely back in the vehicle ready for next time we have snow.

Cleaned some bits, including this rear brake drum.

Sat in it for half hour with the engine ticking over. Started first time as well. Only did it to keep the battery topped up as hadn't been used since last tuesday. Also wiped the condensation off the windows with paper towels. And smeared vaseline around the door seals, and put some in the door locks too.

^^^^ Very sensible. Frozen locks when you need to be somewhere else are distinctly annoying.

Andy, you should have taken it out for a ride, the Chorley roads have been interesting and the police had to close some of the roads up Irvington due to accidents.

Sounds useful!
I started mine for a ti lover following your recent post, I was stopped from driving for 6 weeks following the fitting of a pacemaker
Of course ticking over isn't driving but my broken garage door is difficult to open with one arm :stars
I can open enough now to limbo under and do the necessary, I don't sit there though with the door almost closed  :skull & crossbones

I did think about taking it for a spin, but was a little low on lpg. Yes i read later about the road closures up Rivington. Think it was the back roads towards Heapey/White Coppice. Some cars have struggled outside us and i did think about asking if the 7T lorry that was struggling if they needed a tow.

I try to remember to do it every year around the start of December along with the door seals. I also do the house locks too. Not that they have frozen.

Andy, it is Sheephouse lane over to Belmont and Nick Hiltons lane up past the Yew tree trhat were the real problems but they are closed today.  I have to go as far as Horobin lane today to tell folk who havent read their emails and didnt answer their phone last night trthat church is cancelled.  I am going in the Land Rover.

Are you still getting your gas from Adlington?

John, you could always enlist your friendly neighbour to open your garage door so that you can pull itout onto the drive.  I bet he doesnt even know that you are struggling.

Glad you are on the mend thougfh.

Fitted my Christmas present from my daughters.
Felt a bit like Ken Mattingly in Apollo 13 getting it all wired and working - only managed to blow one fuse.
Also rewired the temp gauge which now works. Turns out one of the green feed wires from the fuse box was duff. Now bypassed.
Celebrated with a drive in the dark to get a Chinese takeaway (10 miles away)
