Only when compared to the 2.25, which I think is the same with many aspects of the 2.6. People have said they are unreliable and not quite as robust, but to be honest I think that is largely due to the 2.25 being so tolerant of lack of maintenance and service which the 2.6 isn't quite as tolerant to.
There are still lots of NOS 6 cylinder parts about, they do come up fairly regularly. The family of 6 cylinder IOE engines were used in cars too of course, so the P4 and P5 engines both share components and these are pretty well supported in terms of parts (I use John Wearing for all my 2.6 bits). Some LR specific bits like the exhaust manifold can be hard to find now but it's not an insurmountable problem.

Thanks for the info.  I had avoided buying a 6 on this side of the pond for fear of part issues.  Now I know.
But I have absolutely found that well maintained rovers of any vintage hold up exceedingly well.  My experience has been that the low mileage, unmucked with trucks are a pleasure.
