This is very sad news.

I didn't know him personally, but because of his peculiar sense of humour in his posts he soon became a 'real' person to me behind his nickname. And as has been mentioned multiple times, he seemed to be a very gentle man - which the photos confirm to me.

Both his forum names I was proud, as a non-native speaker, to have interpreted correctly. His last one always reminded me of Arthur Dent, though, so for me he will be travelling the far reaches of the galaxy in his dressing gown - and a Land Rover - from now on.

My condolences to his family!

This is Terrible news and quite shocking.  I think I met him once at the Bickerton Poacher - I’m not sure, but anyway from his posts and interactions we’ve had on the forum, he was a true gent and a Land Rover man through and through. My Thoughts are with his family at this time.

So very sad new to hear of Dentman passing away.

I've lost so many old work mates this winter with this virus. Having had the virus, it's not nice thing to get. Luckily I only got the virus quite mildly, although I have a family member that isn't so lucky and has been in ICU for three weeks.

Hi,

Further to my previous mail ...

... he sent me words of encouragement (by PM) when I needed them.

"Thanks, you were a mate, though I never met you!"

Oh my God I can't believe John died he's such a good guy I bought many parts from him over the years. He and I always got along well on the Forum. I wish his family well I give my condolences I'll miss him terribly. I wish I had had the chance to actually meet him in person.

My condolences also to the family. Last year, John answered two of my queries with very informative answers.
Later on he PM'ed me to mention about his son who lives in Alberta.
At that time he commiserated to me about our cold winters.

Sincerely, John.
