Why this of course.

Burnt EP90 flavoured or something more traditional?
Well done - they look great!

Seems we could all do with a bit of cheering up today...

The stamp I used was 3D Printed and has only survived 2 batches of biscuits before cracking. I wonder if I can get one cast from something more resilient and of food quality of course. 😂😂😂

You could make a sand mould.

Melt down some aluminium, pour the mould.

There are vids on YouTube showing home casting.

There are more resilient materials for 3D printing from, but they are more expensive and may not work in a domestic machine. Are you using powderbed or filament feed? Filament feed is generally stronger.

If it was printed, that suggests you have a 3D CAD file for it. These can also be transferred to a CAD CAM mill, to machine it out from solid which gives you the choice of some decent engineering polymers or metals. Have you run across Barclays' Eagle Labs? They won't be open until after lockdown ends I would imagine, but worth looking up as a very cost-effective way to do such things if there happens to be one nearby.

Thank you for the advice even though it was in half jest, I appreciate it. I have a friend who does lead casting so I’ll have a chat with him after lockdown to see how easy it would be for him to cast ally instead.

Alec I’m afraid you’ve imbued me with much more technical ability than I actually have, I purchased the stamp from Amazon thus making these probably the most expensive biscuits on the planet. They’ll be dearer if I do get another stamp made but I will look into it because I enjoy baking stuff that is a little bit quirky. You should try my white chocolate millionaire’s shortbread, each tray contains nearly a kilo of chocolate.

In that case, I would be inclined to ask your friend about casting it from pure tin. This has a lower melting point than lead so would work easily and is fully food safe - commonly used for tinning the inside of high class copper pans. Tin is easily available on Ebay, often as recycled ingots.

I handled loads of lead type when I was a printer in the ‘70s.
Never did me any harm...🤪🤪🤪

Hi,

Saturday afternoon? I thought that was for making babies, after a "home win".
