Series 1 content - anyone got SXF 836?
« on: February 11, 2021, 07:38:29 PM »

Just seen a report on the local news (Points West), talking about a film made back in the '50s called '80,000 Suspects'.  All about an outbreak of disease sweeping through the Bristol area, which is why they were reporting on it, trying to link to the current situation.

Anyway, they made use of Civil Defence vehicles in the film as you would expect.  In a still from the set is the back end of SXF 836, I thought this might be of interest to someone, or maybe somebody is also a Series 1 club member and could pass it on.

I own SXF 472 myself and was disappointed not to see it featured! I expect there'll be others in the film, must do a  search for a copy of it online.

I looked on the DVLA site to see if SXF 836 or SXF 936 were still taxed, they’re not. But then would they show up if tax exempt?

It's tax free not tax exempt.  Tax free vehicles still have to be taxed annually,  it's just that the tax is free.
Yes, if the vehicle still exists on DVLA records then it will show up even if it hasn't been taxed for ages.
The only times the number won't come up is either if the vehicle had been scrapped and the number deleted or if the number is on retention.

There is an LRSOC member on their forum (Graham Aldous? Memory is going) who has been keeping comprehensive records of SXF vehicles for years.

There isn't much he doesn't know about them.

You don't have to be a member of that Club to post on there, if you haven't already done so.
